Strip the what?! Strip The Willow takes its name from one of the most enjoyable and popular of the Scottish ceilidh dances, alongside the Dashing White Sergeat, Eightsome, Gay Gordon, and other favourites. Ceilidh dances are energetic, exhilarating, and great fun. With a good 'caller' (teacher) they are easy to learn, and the best dances are often the easiest (Strip the Willow being a classic example) You can master 8-10 dances in a typical evening, each one with a different partner if you choose to come on your own. Our music is also second to none - the tunes are guaranteed to put a smile on your face! |

One of our projects for 2012 is to run ceilidhs in Oxford (probably in the Town Hall) on a regular basis. The goal of these evenings, as with any type of ceilidh, will be to have a lot of fun. They'll be cheap to attend (£5 at the door) and open to anyone aged 18 or above, whether complete beginner or kilt-clad ceilidh pro. Rest assured that we will always 'call' (teach) all of the dances to ensure everyone is able to participate and enjoy them.
Need a caller for a private ceilidh party? We have all the kit and experience to make this happen - just let us know! |
